The award winning 'Be' chair by Formway

Petone business was to the fore in the recent Wellington Region Gold Awards winning a number of categories. The Gold Awards is an annual celebration of the Wellington business community's successes and features more than 800 business people from across the region. GNS Science in Avalon took out the technological, science, research and development Discovering Gold award for their work helping other countries extend marine territory. Formway won the Cornerstone Salute award, which salutes long-term iconic Wellington businesses. Formway, which started in the 1950's in Petone, design and manufacture high performance office seating and furniture for the New Zealand and international markets. General Manager of Marketing, Ed Burak, says they're pleased to be recognised by the local business community. "It's another confirmation our vision of quality research leading design is the right one. We've recently won a few international awards, including a gold at the NeoCon Awards in Chicago." Mr Burak says Formway's new 'Be' chair, has been licensed by recognised furniture design leader, Knol, from North America. "It's pleasing to know our research and development work here in Wellington is being recognised and licensed by the global industry leaders, " says Mr Burak. Datamail in Petone, who provide communication management systems and support infrastructure, won the Supporting Gold category for their specialist systems and products. Womana, creator of contemporary maternity lingerie captured the Emerging Gold award. Iconic paint brand Dulux captured the ACC workplace safety award as a paint manufacturer of more than 70 years. While another paint manufacturer, Resene, won Green Gold as the 'environmental choice' paint manufacturer.
