Paintball attack on Woburn train

A stash of burgled Petone paintball guns might have been used in an attack on commuter trains in Woburn. Kiwirail marketing communications manager Nigel Parry played down the paintball attack. ?There was no damage to the train ? just some paint marks on the side of the train which washed off very easily.? Mr Parry said the attack happened in the Woburn area but he would not be more precise than that. ?This isn?t something we want to encourage at all ? we don?t want to make a huge noise about it.? The attack happened in August after the late July burglary of Paintball Adventure Challenge in Western Hutt Road. Crims stole about $30,000 worth of paintball gear including 30 paintball guns and 100,000 rounds of paintball ammo. Petone senior constable Andy Smith could not rule out a link between the incidents. ?It would be an inference rather than any hard proof. ?We?ve had a burglary where paintball guns have been stolen, and now we?ve got paintballs getting fired at trains. ?There?s no hard link there but it?s just an inference at this stage.?
